BUILDING BLOCKS (2023)

A visual metaphor for creation, communicating the connectivity of the universe, of nature, and the process of human creativity. The framework of the installation, while architectural is inspired by the geometry of fractal patterns that regularly occur in nature and form the world around us. In this sense the term architecture alludes to the 'building blocks' of the universe. The resin cubes within the structure reference various scientific and spiritual concepts that address creation in its many forms, such as nested platonic solids, the balance of masculine and feminine energies, and the relational nature of our universe.

Project commissioned by AA2A, for Staffordshire University.

TIME & TIDE (2019)

Time & Tide was designed and built in 2019. The installation was originally commissioned for Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival, attracting over 500,000 visitors over 12 days, and is currently on loan to the Canary Wharf Group.

With its hourglass design and colours inspired by nature, Time & Tide aims to remind us of the urgency of halting the plastic pollution of our oceans. Its form tells us that time is running out to repair this problem before the damage to our planet is irreversible, and the message is reinforced through the use of biodegradable alternatives to plastic used in its construction.
